Frequently Asked Questions
General
-
Almaleza is a concierge experience for women traveling to Spain for egg freezing. We offer a supportive 3-week stay in Madrid, curated referrals to excellent clinics, timeline guidance, and a shared luxury apartment — all for a fraction of what you'd pay in the U.S.
-
Nope. We’re not a clinic — we’re your guide. Think of us as the team that makes everything else easier: timing, housing, logistics, emotional support, and that awkward question of “How do I even begin?”
-
Spain is one of the best places in the world to freeze your eggs. The care is world-class, the costs are significantly lower, and the country itself is stunning. The clinics we work with are internationally recognized among the best of the best, and your eggs can be stored or transported later to the U.S. if needed.
-
We specialize in U.S.-based women in their 30s (some late 20s or early 40s) who want to explore egg freezing without going it alone - or going broke. But wherever you’re from, whatever your journey - you’re welcome here.
-
Absolutely. Almaleza is a women-only environment, which means your journey will be shared with other women who understand the road you’re on. Within that, we celebrate women of every race, religion, sexual orientation, and ability. Our community is built on respect, safety, and belonging - and we live that out together through our Casa Commitments.
The Experience
-
We partner with luxury properties in Madrid that are thoughtfully selected for comfort, privacy, and peace of mind. Our primary residence is in one of the city’s safest, most charming neighborhoods - Jerónimos - just steps from Retiro Park.
During your stay, you’ll share the home with a small group of women who are also freezing their eggs. We keep our space calm, kind, and welcoming through a set of shared values — our Casa Commitments — so you can feel safe and supported from day one. Each property offers a private or shared bedroom option alongside a full kitchen, cozy common areas, laundry, designated space for remote work, balconies and loads of natural light.
All our locations are in the heart of Madrid - walkable to the cutest cafés, leafy boulevards, and the kind of peaceful magic that invites you to honor yourself every step of the journey.

Our recommended package for our U.S. clients includes a 3-week stay, typically from Monday to Monday. This timeline supports your entire egg freezing process — from your first appointment through retrieval and recovery.
We also have weekly stays and pricing available for clients who align better with that timeline.
-
Not unless you want to be. We intentionally keep things small — usually just 4–6 women sharing a home together — so you can build connection while still having space to rest or recharge solo.
-
Absolutely. Each casa has desks and workspace, the Wi-Fi is strong, and Madrid mornings give you quiet time before most of your U.S. coworkers even log on. With Spain’s time zone advantage, you can easily attend medical appointments in the morning and align with U.S. working hours in the afternoon.
We’ll even connect you to local co-working spaces nearby should you want that.
-
Not in the “ group schedule” sense. You’ll have shared space with other women, optional add-ons like yoga or Spanish classes, and occasional invitations to shared meals. But your time is your own, and we encourage you to honor whatever it is you need each day.
Cost + Financing
-
We offer two stay types: Shared or Private rooms. We recommend 3-week stays for U.S.-based clients and have designed our packages to best support those guests. Weekly pricing is also available when it suits your timeline.

Our current pricing is part of our 2025 introductory launch — available for clients booking September and October. We are not currently accepting clients for November or December.

Your stay in a thoughtfully designed apartment in central Madrid, concierge-level support, a vetted clinic referral, cycle and travel planning, RT car service from the Madrid airport and to your procedure, weekly family dinners and many thoughtful touches throughout. We handle the non-medical details so you can focus on your care.
-
We did!
Our current rates for September and October 2025 are part of our introductory launch pricing — and they won’t last forever.
When you book through Almaleza, you’ll also gain access to exclusive pricing at our partner clinics in Spain — because we believe in making world-class fertility care more accessible.
Plus, we’ve secured discounts on local experiences for you to enjoy during your stay: think yoga, acupuncture, Spanish classes, and even paella-making nights.
-
No. Fertility treatments are paid directly to your clinic, and medications are paid directly to the local pharmacy. The total cost for both typically range from $3,500–$5,000 depending on your protocol.
-
Yes. Once you’re confirmed, you’ll have access to financing options through our trusted partners. We’re also building new relationships with women-focused financial institutions to expand what’s possible.
-
Possibly. If your cycle is considered medically necessary (like for PCOS or endometriosis), you may be eligible for reimbursement on certain parts of this experience. We’ll share helpful tips - and we’re creating a full guide to help you navigate it.
Timing + Application
-
We recommend applying 1–3 months before you want to go, but earlier is always welcome — especially if you have specific timing in mind.
Availability is limited and spots do fill up, especially during peak travel months. While it’s not first-come, first-served (we do review applications to make sure it’s a good fit), we encourage you to apply early so you have the best shot at your preferred window.
Your application is free, non-committal, and helps us get to know your timeline and needs — and work together on your preferred window.
-
We’ll review your info, follow up with a free call if it’s a potential fit, and talk through your ideal dates, room options, and next steps. If you’re ready to move forward, you’ll reserve your room with a deposit.
-
Not at all. A general sense is helpful for early planning, but your clinic will guide the specifics based on your body and timeline. We’ll coordinate your room availability around your ideal window and stay in sync with your clinic to make sure everything lines up.
-
Some fluctuation is totally normal — and we build in a little buffer time to help with that. But because availability is limited, major shifts can affect your stay. Your clinic will guide you on how best to prepare your body and time your cycle, and we’ll work closely with you to align on the best available window.
Community + Support
-
Smart, thoughtful, independent women who’ve made the decision to honor themselves — just like you. Most are single, in their 30s, and from the U.S., but every woman is on her own journey.
We welcome women from all walks of life — whatever their story was before this, and wherever it may take them next. What they share is the choice to honor themselves right here, right now.
Also, hormone injections are real — which is why we’re committed to a supportive, low-drama environment with safe energy, big laughs, and good snacks. You can read more about our shared values in the casa commitments — and we do ask all applicants to review them as part of the application process.
-
Yes. Whether you have questions, need a pep talk, or just want someone to help you laugh it off — we’re here. Our team checks in regularly, and we’re always just a message away. We can also point you toward trusted wellness resources like acupuncture, massage, or a very dependable croissant.
-
Totally fine. You can request a private room, keep your own schedule, and opt out of any shared experiences. While we expect all guests to honor the Casa Commitments and help contribute to a peaceful, supportive environment, there’s zero pressure to connect — only the option to, if and when it feels right.
Future Options for Your Eggs
-
Your eggs will remain securely stored at the clinic until you decide what to do with them. In short, your options include:
you can return to Spain for IVF - with a partner or on your own
ship them home
donate them
or decide not to use them
Please see following questions for more details.
-
If you are married – Yes, you can legally use your partner’s sperm for IVF in Spain.
If you are not married – Spanish law requires sperm donation to be anonymous and selected by the clinic. This applies even if you are in a committed relationship.
-
In many cases, yes. Depending on Spanish regulations and your clinic’s policies, you may be able to donate your eggs for reproductive use by others or for research purposes.
-
Yes. Specialized medical transport is required to safely move frozen eggs to your fertility team in the U.S. (or elsewhere). This comes with an additional cost, but the overall expense is still far lower than freezing and storing eggs in the U.S. from start to finish.
-
No. Surrogacy is not legal in Spain. Eggs frozen here must be intended for your own use if fertilized in Spain.
-
Spain offers the ROPA Method (“Reception of Oocytes from Partner”), where one woman provides the eggs and the other carries the pregnancy. Under Spanish law, female couples must be legally married to access this method, and anonymous donor sperm is used (chosen by the clinic).
Medical + Clinics
-
Yes. If you already have a clinic in mind, we’ll help coordinate your stay around their availability. If not, we’ll introduce you to our partner clinics — some of the best fertility clinics in Spain, all vetted for their excellence in care and communication.
When you book through Almaleza, you’ll also gain access to exclusive pricing and added support from our partners — just one more way we’re making this easier (and more affordable) for you.
-
In many cases, yes. While we don’t provide medical advice, our partner clinics are deeply experienced in caring for women with PCOS, endometriosis, and other unique needs.
If that’s your situation, please don’t count yourself out — you may actually be more eligible for HSA/FSA reimbursement too. We’ll help you explore what’s possible. -
All medical treatment is handled directly by your fertility clinic. They’ll guide your testing, cycle prep, medications, monitoring, and retrieval. Almaleza takes care of everything else: where you stay, how to time your trip, girl dinners, and clear communication every step of the way.
-
Yes - we’ll help you understand what to expect when picking up medications, how to read your schedule, and where you need to be (and how to get there). That said, all medical instructions, prescriptions, and injection guidance will come directly from your doctor or fertility team.
See full medical disclaimer below. -
Almaleza is not a medical provider and does not offer medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. All medical care — including testing, prescriptions, injections, and fertility procedures — is managed directly by your doctor and fertility clinic.
We do not interfere with clinical recommendations and encourage you to direct all medical questions to your licensed care team. Before booking, you’ll receive a full medical waiver to review and sign.
In the case of a medical emergency related to your treatment, your fertility clinic will have specific protocols in place, including after-hours or urgent care contacts. We recommend asking your clinic about these procedures during your intake process.
For general emergencies while in Spain (like illness, injury, or other urgent needs), Spain has a national emergency number — 112 — similar to 911 in the U.S. This number works for medical, fire, or police emergencies and can be dialed from any phone, even without a SIM card.
While Almaleza does not provide emergency response, we’re here to help guide you toward the right resources when needed — just like a trusted concierge or host would in any hotel or Airbnb abroad. These are good questions to ask any time you travel for care, and we’re here to help you feel informed and supported.
